Wendy Lewis, who is interchangeably known as "The Knife Coach," is a cosmetic beauty consultant and the president of Wendy Lewis & Co., Ltd. Her experience and knowledge pertaining to the world of aesthetics and elective surgery fittingly paved the way for her latest book titled Plastic Makes Perfect: The Complete Cosmetic Beauty Guide.

With clever titles such as "Mirror, Mirror: Are You Ready to Change Your Looks" and "Hope in a Jar, Tube, Pot or Bottle: Lotions and Potions that Make a Difference," Lewis turns a sometimes sensitive subject into one that can be approached in a relaxed manner. Cosmetic and plastic surgery is on the rise throughout the world, and rather than hide the details of procedures such as rhinoplasty and breast augmentation, she has taken the opportunity to liberate prospective cosmetic surgery patients by informing them.

In this book, Lewis explains that age can affect a person's thoughts about cosmetic surgery. For example, while a young 20-something may shun the idea of surgical enhancements; an older woman is more likely to feel the pressure of society to look more youthful. And with the added expectations for women to maintain a "refreshed" appeal, elective surgery has coincidently become more widely accepted.

While this witty author supports the decision to undergo cosmetic surgery procedures, admitting in the book's introduction that she has had face lift surgery, Lewis also stresses the importance of visiting a plastic surgeon for the right reasons.

If you only remember a few facts from this insightful publication, let it be this "nip tip" provided by Lewis:

"Never have cosmetic surgery in the middle of a life crisis. You need to be calm and focused to make sensible choices and sail through the process with ease. If your agenda is to totally rebrand yourself, you will have too much riding on the outcome of any procedure to be able to keep it in proper perspective."
