Male Breast Reduction

Gynecomastia Treatment

Preparing for Gynecomastia Surgery

If you are a male who suffers from gynecomastia, a condition known as "female-like breasts," you may be interested in male breast reduction. If so, the best way to learn more about the procedure is by doing research, right here, on PlasticSurgery.com. Our online resources are designed to help inform you regarding all you need to know about your desired plastic surgery procedure.

After you feel confident to proceed onto the next level, we suggest meeting with a trained plastic surgeon who specializes in gynecomastia treatment. By doing so, you may become better acquainted with this procedure.

During the consultation phase, you will discuss your aesthetic goals, and the plastic surgeon will explain what he/she expects of you in exchange. In order to experience a successful gynecomastia surgery, you will be required to:

  • Attempt to tone the chest with diet and exercise first
  • Adjust your medications (either refrain from certain medications, or begin taking others)
  • Undergo lab testing
  • Refrain from smoking at least two weeks before and after surgery

Because the initial meeting may be a bit overwhelming, we have created a "Surgeon Questionnaire" to help guide you through the consultation. Print it out and take with you to your initial doctor visit!

Be sure to read our article, "Considering Plastic Surgery?" to help you prepare for your male breast reduction surgery.
