Cosmetic Assurance Insurance
Unfortunately, most insurance providers do not cover plastic surgery procedures. In the unlikely event that complications arise after surgery, your medical insurance carrier will not cover those expenses as well. For many patients, the initial surgery and an additional cost for post-op treatment due to complications is a financial burden that they cannot afford. Luckily, there is a solution to give you added peace of mind and help relieve the cost of an emergency room visit and hospital stay.
CosmetAssure® is an insurance program that helps cover post-surgery medical expenses. A participating member of CosmetAssure program will have post-op medical care covered should complications arise. Below are 17 procedures that are covered by CosmetAssure:
• Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
• Breast Augmentation
• Breast Lift
• Breast Reduction
• Browlift
• Buttock Lift
• Cheek Implants
• Chin Augmentation
• Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery
• Facelift
• Gynecomastia (Male Breast Reduction)
• Liposuction
• Lower Body Lift
• Otoplasty
• Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)
• Thigh Lift
• Upper Arm Lift
CosmetAssure applies only if you are admitted to an accredited hospital, emergency room or surgical center due complications as a result of your covered cosmetic procedure. In addition, it must be medically necessary and is based on an approved admitting diagnosis. Post-op care must occur within 30 days of your procedure.
Dr. Phil Haeck insists that CosmetAssure relieves the anxiety his patients may have associated with the high post-op medical costs should recovery not go as planned. “True complications from cosmetic surgery are rare but when they happen, the sudden increased financial costs to the patient can add to the emotional distress of the prolonged recovery. I sleep better at night knowing that our CosmetAssure policies will prevent an additional burden for my patients. If one of my patients needs hospitalization I don’t have to worry about the added costs raising their anxiety levels even further and turning everything into a giant crisis.”
CosmetAssure covers an extensive amount of services and expenses. For example, the cost for hospitalization of 24 hours or more and ICU/Trauma Admittance includes services of physicians and registered nurses, anesthetics and their administration, laboratory tests, oxygen and its administration, blood and blood derivatives that are not donated or replaced, and their administration, radiological procedures, and prescription drugs.
In order to be covered, your plastic surgeon must be a participating member in the CosmetAssure program. To find a surgeon near you, click here. Further information is available on the CosmetAssure website.
